The National Testing Agency (NTA) had recently released some vital information regarding Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2024 for Admission to UNDERGRADUATE programmes. Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate (UG), is an admission exam which is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into all the undergraduate programmes in all central universities under Ministry of Education (MoE) of India. It is an equal and fair opportunity for candidates from all over India (especially from rural and backward areas) to get admission in central university. Apart from central university, scores obtained in CUET (UG) exam are accepted by various Universities (private, public or deemed), Colleges, and Autonomous Institutions for admission to their undergraduate programmes.

Here are some important dates related to CUET (UG):

  • Application Form submission (only through online mode): 27 February 2024 to 26 March 2024 (up to 11:50 PM)

  • Last date for fee payment (Credit card/Debit card/Net banking/UPI): 26 march 2024 (up to 11:50 PM)

  • Correction window: 28 March 2024 to 29 March 2024 (up to 11:50 PM)

  • Announcement of examination city: 30 April 2024 onwards

  • Admit card released for download (from NTA’s website): Second week of May 2024

  • Date of Examination: Between 15 May 2024 and 31 May 2024

  • Response sheet release: Later in the website

  • Result declaration: 30 June 2024

Exam Scheme:

  • CUET (UG) 2024 will be conducted in the Hybrid mode (Computer-Based Test (CBT) / Pen & Paper)

  • CUET (UG) 2024 is going to conducted in 13 languages i.e. English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

  • The CUET (UG) 2024 will be conducted in 380 cities including 26 cities outside India

  • CUET (UG) 2024 will be divided in four sections: two for languages, one for domain specific subjects, and one for general test.

  • There are 33 languages and 27 subjects from which candidates can apply for their desired university/organisation. 

  • There is a general test also for those programmes in which the general test is used for admission.

  • From above, language/Subject candidates can choose a maximum of six subjects for taking the exam.

  • Candidates have to attempt 40 out of 50 questions from each language/subject section and 50 out of 60 questions from the general test section. (An overall choice of 10 questions will be provided for all 61 subjects)

  • Test duration for all subjects/language will be 45 min except for Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, and General Tests which would be 60 minutes.

  • CUET (UG) exam will be conducted on multiple days in two or three shifts. (Depending on number of student and subject choices)


Exam pattern:

  • CUET (UG) exam is Objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

  • Exam is divided into 3 sections: language, specific domain subject, general test

  • Students get 5 marks for each correct answer and get 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

Language - Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary and Narrative, and Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary.

Domain Subject - As given on the NTA website https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/

General Test - General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts Arithmetic / Algebra / Geometry / Mensuration / Statistics), Logical and Analytical Reasoning.


Eligibility criteria:

  • There is no age limit criteria for appearing in CUET. However, candidates are required to fulfil age criteria (is any) of their desirable university/college/institution.

  • Candidates are required to pass or appear in class 12th exam or equivalent exam for appearing in CUET.

  • Admission criteria may be unique for every university. It is advisable to visit the university's website before applying for a desirable programme.
