XAT Exam Pattern Changed: Check Out the Latest Updates
The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of XAMI and is one of the most popular MBA entrance exams for admission to XLRI and its associated institutes. This year, the XAT exam pattern has undergone significant changes, making it essential for aspirants to stay updated.
Changes in XAT Exam Pattern

Mode of Examination:

The XAT exam will now be conducted as a computer-based test (CBT), shifting from the previous paper-based format.

Exam Duration:

The exam duration has been reduced to three hours from the earlier duration of three and a half hours.

Removal of Essay Writing Section:

The Essay Writing section has been completely removed, which means candidates no longer have to prepare for this segment.
Revised XAT Paper Pattern
Previously, the XAT exam consisted of two parts:

Part I: Decision Making, Verbal and Logical Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Data Interpretation.

Part II: General Knowledge and Essay Writing.
Now, the revised exam pattern consists of only one part with 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), divided into the following four sections:

General Knowledge
Marking Scheme and Negative Marking

Each question carries one mark, and for every correct answer, candidates will receive +1 mark.

There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks (1/4th) for each incorrect answer.

Additionally, there is a penalty for unattempted questions. If the number of unattempted questions exceeds a certain limit, 0.05 marks will be deducted per question.

With the removal of the Essay Writing section, candidates who were focusing on comprehensive writing might need to realign their preparation strategies. However, this change can be advantageous for candidates with a technical background or those less comfortable with writing-intensive tasks.
