General Admission Process
This 6-step process applies to most undergraduate and postgraduate admissions in India.
Identify Your Stream
Choose from Engineering, Medical, Management, Law, Design, Commerce, Arts or Science based on your interests and career goals.
Appear for Entrance Exam
Register and qualify the relevant entrance exam (JEE/NEET/CAT/CLAT/CUET). Most exams open registration 3–6 months before the test.
Check Cutoffs & Shortlists
After results, colleges release cutoff scores. Ensure your score meets the required percentile or rank for your target colleges.
Participate in Counselling
For centrally-allocated seats, register at the designated counselling portal (JoSAA, MCC, CSAB, etc.) and lock your preferences.
Document Verification
Carry originals of all required documents. Physical or online verification must be completed before the deadline.
Fee Payment & Enrollment
Pay the semester fee by the stipulated deadline. Collect the enrollment confirmation and allotment letter.

Documents Checklist
Keep originals and 3+ attested photocopies of every document below.
- Class 10 marksheet & passing certificate
- Class 12 marksheet & passing certificate
- Entrance exam rank card / scorecard
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS — if applicable)
- Domicile / residence certificate
- Aadhar card or government-issued ID
- Passport-size photographs (6–10 copies)
- Migration certificate (for out-of-state admissions)
- Medical fitness certificate (for Medical admissions)
- Character certificate from last institution
